The Interdisciplinary Teams
-
Family Team
Parents, guardians, and students have an integral part in recognizing and managing a concussion.
-
Medical Team
Healthcare providers have an integral part in diagnosing, treating and ultimately "clearing" a concussion.
-
School Team
Two school teams - the School Team/Academic and the School Team/Physical - are essential in helping the student with a concussion successfully return to learn (RTL) and return to play (RTP).
Steps to Building a REAP Village
REAP was developed in Colorado in 2009. It has since been customized for numerous states and organizations (see below). The 2024 version is now available!
The benefit of customizing REAP for your state is that it will contain your own local experts, your local student story, and local resources.
First: Customize REAP
REAP provides an easy template with 15 spots for your local experts quotes, stories, and local resources to be added. Our graphic designer will make your REAP into a professional product.
Second: Train and Disseminate
Once you are happy with your customized REAP, let NASHIA help you develop an implementation plan for dissemination and trainings. Train each REAP Team (family, medical, school physical, and school academic) all together or in separate trainings.
Third: Take care of all of your students with concussions; not just athletes.
Train partners across your state and post your REAP manual and your REAP recorded trainings on multiple websites for easy access.
