NASHIA members gathered on 4.17.25 for a Learning Session to learn on “Navigating Changes from the Administration and Congress: Impact on Brain Injury Programs.” This session provided an opportunity for members of (NASHIA) to hear updates, share insights, and discuss how these changes may affect policies, funding, and services for individuals with brain injuries.
During the Learning Session, an overview was provided on:
HHS Reorganization: Updates on the impact on brain injury programs at the Administration for Community Living, Centers for Disease Control, Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services, and Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health.
Other Expected Federal Changes: Insight into potential changes to the Department of Justice and other federal agencies and how that might impact brain injury funding.
The Reconciliation Process: Reviewed how Congress’s reconciliation process works and heard what we anticipate being included in the 2025 reconciliation process related to Medicaid and other health care programs.
TBI Act Update and Appropriations Process: Discussed how authorization and funding will impact recent changes and hear how ongoing advocacy can protect our programs.
Administration Priorities: Looked at the other priorities of the new Administration.
